A Commercial Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) is a specially designed system for treating wastewater generated from commercial facilities such as offices, shopping malls, hotels, hospitals, schools, and business complexes. These plants help in safely treating and recycling sewage to meet environmental regulations and promote sustainable water usage. |
Description
A Commercial Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) is a wastewater treatment system designed to process and purify sewage generated from commercial establishments such as hotels, shopping malls, hospitals, office buildings, educational institutions, residential complexes, and small business facilities. The main purpose of this system is to treat wastewater and make it safe for discharge into the environment or suitable for reuse in applications like gardening, flushing, and cooling systems.
The working of a Commercial Sewage Treatment Plant is based on a multi-stage treatment process that removes physical, chemical, and biological contaminants from wastewater. In the initial stage, known as preliminary treatment, large solid particles, debris, plastics, and grit are removed using bar screens and grit chambers. This prevents damage to downstream equipment and improves system efficiency.
The next stage is primary treatment, where wastewater is allowed to settle in sedimentation tanks. During this process, heavy solids settle at the bottom as sludge, while oils, grease, and lighter materials float on the surface and are removed. This stage helps reduce the overall load of contaminants before biological treatment begins.
